TestimonialsWe had been with The Hockey Group for 4 years and it has been a decision that I have never regretted. Right from the start the Hockey Group has been committed to the well being of my son who had not been given much of a chance to be noticed in our hometown. The Hockey Group saw the determination, commitment and the drive within my son and believed in him. After reviewing a number the possible career path options,The Hockey Group recommended the Prep school route to start and they assisted in the search for appropriate schools. Through The Hockey Group network my son has been referred to other advisors to promote and assist in his development. This includes off-ice fitness and nutrition education, physiological and communication support and on-ice development through referrals to goalie training and coaching. As my son was completing his high school education at prep school The Hockey Group was there for support and guidance to continue with search for NCAA and other post secondary school options in the development of my son’s career path with an emphasis in hockey. Through our direct representative (Gerry McKeown), they are always available to receive questions via email and telephone calls of all types. Unlike many other player/parent representatives The Hockey Group truly cares about the player no matter if they are a first round draft pick or a player who has been overlooked by others but have the potential. Both my son and I are very happy to be part of The Hockey Group and I have already recommended their services to others and would highly recommend their services for those athletes who representatives be there from start to finish and who do not forget about them. I would be happy to talk to anyone considering The Hockey Group for your son’s hockey representation in greater detail, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We found that we were unable to get answers to our very basic questions. It seemed everyone had an agenda, which is understandable – everyone was looking to help there own. I was given the Hockeygroups name and phone number just before the Prospect Tournament. I called and left a message with Mike McArthur. Mike called me back with in the hour. This was on the Thursday, on the Friday Mike McArthur and Gerry McKeown came to the Prospect Tournament and watched my son during one of his games. When I met with both Mike and Gerry, they were very upfront with there feedback, they also followed up with an email to both Jeremy and I. The most important feedback they gave my son was the concern they had for his right ankle. They strongly suggested we get his ankle looked at. Little did they know I already had my son to an orthopedic surgeon a month prior to the tournament and they found nothing wrong – they stated my son walks “funny”. As a result, I decided to get a second opinion. We met with another orthopedic surgeon; he did an emergency CAT SCAN on his ankle because he did not like the look or feel of his ankle. The final outcome was, the bones in my sons ankle were dying from a previous break (which we were not aware of), he also re fractured it at the Prospect Tournament. Jeremy had surgery within a month. IF it had not been for the observation of both Mike and Gerry, I am not sure how long my son would have gone on with a broken ankle, and/or the complications it would have caused him. From that moment on I fully trusted the Hockey group. Gerry Mckeown is Jeremy’s advisor. Gerry has Jeremy’s best interest and supports Jeremy in everything he wants to achieve. He has helped Jeremy in many ways. He is positive, encouraging but is not afraid to be completely honest with Jeremy in areas of improvement. He has not only developed my son in hockey but has helped develop his character in a positive manner. He has guided him and instructed him to be the best hockey player, student and young man that he could be. Gerry not only deals with the hockey players, he also helps the parents understand and cope with some of the stresses of hockey. When I call him or email him, he always gets back to me right away. I never feel stupid or hesitant to communicate with him, and trust me I am hockey stupid! Jeremy is and will continue to be a better hockey player and a better person because of the Hockey Group, especially because of Gerry McKeown. Respectfully,Sandra |
